Description
Photograph of the Officers quarters of Colonel E.S. Beale at Fort Tejon, [s.d.]. The premises, which were destroyed by an earthquake on Friday June 9th, 1857 at 6:30 A.M., show at center a long cabin marginally obscured by small trees in front of the backdrop of a shrub-covered hill. In the foreground several post-and-wire fences are pictured, as well as a chickenwire fence, in front of all of which a small child in short pants, knee socks, a jacket and cap is standing. A moderately-sized tree stands partially visible to the left.
