Description

Photograph of the Little Rock Dam near Palmdale, April 11, 1926. The dam can be seen across the background between two mountains at left and right. A dry riverbed can be seen in front of the dam, including some leafless trees near the foreground. A sign to the right of the dam reads, "Palmdale & Little Rock Irrigation Project". Photoprint reads, "Arthur S. Bent, attorney, W.C. Detchner of Dr. George P. Clements. 3 men in front of dam".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
