Description
Photographic portrait of two streetcar conductors with their streetcar on Ninth and Grand View Avenue, Los Angeles, ca.1900. Two men in conductors' uniforms are pictured at center to the right of their streetcar, which is presumable of the Pacific Electric system. The elder of the two men, identified as Gansett, wears a handlebar moustache. He stands on the running board of the streetcar with his hands in his pockets. The younger man, identified as P.C. Peterson, stands next to him on the unpaved road, his jacket buttoned at its top button only. A two-story craftsman-style house is visible in the background. There is a blur in the lower right hand corner that appears to be the head of a pedestrian going by. Foliage hangs in from above.
