Photograph of Southern California Gas Company's network of pipes and scrubbers in Blythe, ca.1955. An intricate network of pipes and scrubbers sit outside the compressor plant, some lying horizontally at center, others standing vertical to the right. A series of pipes streams from the plant to a point at right, unseen in the picture. The plant stands at left, strewn with lights above ventilation vents atop a series of windows. The background is neutral.; Note from photoprint: "This plant is the main entry point for gas from Texas and New Mexico coming into the two southern pipelines operated by Southern Counties and Southern California Gas Cos. and serving Southern California area".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
