Description
Photograph of a monument dedicated to James M. Marshall in Coloma, [s.d.]. The statue of Marshall sits on top with a hat, boots and what appear to be mining supplies in his hands. Below him is a large stone pedestal. What appears to be a string of pine cones wraps around the thin top and a carving of gold digging supplies is just below with the numbers "48" below the carving. The pedestal gets wider towards the bottom and a plaque can be seen that reads "Marshall". Just below, a carving can be seen towards the bottom of the monument. Tree tops can be seen at the bottom. "Monument to James M. Marshall, discoverer of gold in California".
