Description
Photograph of the Knox Powell oil well inside a garage in Venice, 1930-1940. The machinery for the well takes up most of the space inside the large garage. In the distance at right, several large electric motors and drive belts are visible, while in the foreground at left, several large pipes can be seen. Low rafters support an arched ceiling. There are three men visible, including two standing at left and a third operating machinery at center. A sign on the wall at center warns "Do not talk to employees".
