Title View of wooden oil derricks on the Signal Hill Oil Field near Long Beach, ca.1930
Description Photograph of a view of wooden oil derricks on the Signal Hill Oil Field near Long Beach, ca.1930. Dozens of tall, tapered wooden derricks are visible. All of the towers have platforms three-quarters of the way up and on the very top. Several large cylindrical storage tanks can be seen on a hillside at left, while many small wooden buildings can be seen in the foreground near the base of the derricks. More tanks are in the foreground at center.
