Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the first oil refinery in Newhall, erected in 1876, ca.1925. The refiner consists of three brick chimneys connected through a series of dark iron pipe to large tanks and containers, also made of iron. There is one especially large tank towards the back of the refinery at left. The refinery is built partially into a tree-covered hill side, and there are many more trees in the background. In the distance at left is a single tree with a ladder leaning against it.
