Description
Photograph of Pacific Electric hotel car that ran between the Maryland and Virginia Hotels, Long Beach, ca.1905. At center, the rectangular hotel car is seen sitting on tracks near dirt and sand. Thirteen small windows are visible on the side of the car. Below the windows, the words "Maryland-Virginia" are barely visible. At the front of the car, five windows span the frontal face. Above these windows, a small banner reads: "Maryland Special". At the top of the car, a large metallic rod extends to a group of wires. Below the windows, a large cylinder protrudes from the face of the car, and a large grill is seen near the floor. At the bottom of the car, four wheels can be seen from the side supporting the vehicle. To the left, a group of people can be seen standing near the hotel car. In the background to the left, a group of utility poles and wires are seen. In the background to the right, a few buildings are visible. Description on the back of the photograph reads: "05 at Balboa on a real estate excursion about 1905".
