Photograph of people watching a swimsuit contest on a beach in Santa Monica, [s.d.]. A small stage is set up at center and three women in bathing suits can be seen walking near the front of the stage. Many people can be seen sitting on the sand around the stage, many under striped umbrellas. A beach club styled like a castle can be seen in the background at right. A parking lot full of automobiles can be seen in the background at center, and the Santa Monica Athletic Club can be seen in the background at left. The cliffs of Pacific Palisades can be seen in the distance at center.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
