Description

Photograph of the interior of an aircraft factory, [s.d]. Two men stand in the center while looking at what seems to be an airplane engine. Engines that all look the same stand in a row on the right and left while the propeller of a plane is visible to the left of center. People can be seen working in open office space to the left while a wing of a large airplane is visible along with its backside on the right. In the right background, the scaffolding that allows people to build planes can be seen. Back of photoprint reads: "[157] [224]".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
