Description
Photographic portrait of people seated on the base of an oil well in Los Angeles, 1930-1940. Eleven people, including two women, are lined up across the image at center. Several of the men are dressed in grubby oil worker clothes, while the women and one of the men are dressed nicely. An array of metal pipes extends upward around the people, and a large flywheel can be seen at left. The base of the oil well is made from thick wooden boards.
