Description
Photograph of a derrick standing tall at Mt. View Oil Field's Dana Hogan Discovery Well in Kern County, ca.1920. The oilrig stands right of center, with a small wooden staircase leading up to a platform beneath it. Around the base sit some drilling equipment and across it stands a house-like structure. Several wooden planks stab into the soil in the foreground at even lengths from each other, while several cylindrical tanks sit at left. Behind them, three oilrigs can be seen in the distance, as can several others in the far center. The sky hangs cloudy overhead.
