Description

View of Little Rock Dam, near Palmdale, April 11, 1926. The dam spans a river in the background at center is composed of several large concrete arches. A sign on the right side of the dam reads "Palmdale & Littlerock Irrigation Project". The water level in front of the dam is considerably lower than the water level behind it. The mountains that surround the dam are sparsely covered with small bushes.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
