Photograph of a view of Rainbow Falls near the San Joaquin River, ca.1950. Tall, thin spruce trees stand along the river's edge in the foreground with the light waterfall crashing over the cliff on the far side of the river at center. Large bushes stand above the waterfall at the edge of the cliff while a forest of dark spruce trees extends across the background. Photoprint reads "Near Minaret Summit about 2 miles from Devil's Post Pile".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
