Photograph of a drawing of the exterior of the Samson Rubber Company, ca.1928. Right of center stands a roofed structure bearing the name "Samson Tires" on a large placard. Left of this, two smoke stacks spew from atop a small building. A short brick building stands beside this, while another structure with a tank on its' roof sits behind it. The tank reads "Samson Tires." In the foreground, several trucks loaded with tires are depicted in different states of motion. The background is neutral.; Photoprint reads: "Samson plant #1 at Compton".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
