Description
Photograph of the exterior view of the Mike Marquitz Saloon in Gold Hill, El Dorado county, California, ca.1900. At center a building composed of smooth and uniform bricks is visible. A door is visible at its center, built from what appears to be a dark wood. One stair leads to the door while an ornamental iron fence is visible to the left and right. The fence to the right is partially broken, while wood planks lie in front of the door. The ground is unpaved and tree branches filled with leaves are visible to the left.; Photoprint reads: "has a date near the top which says 1859. Note the ornamental iron work fence - a work of art that is not seen today. This and a ruin nearby are all that we find of the town. Note: There is a Gold Hill in each of the following counties: El Dorado, Monterey, Nevada, Placer". Additional information: As of January 2019, the building is still extant.
