Description
Photograph of a view of the Lake View gusher at the Sunset Oil Field in Kern County, 1920-1930. A tall metal oil derrick is at center and a massive plume of dark oil is spewing from the top, creating a dark cloud. The ground around the derrick is wet with oil. Many more derricks can be seen in the distance. A mountain range runs across the image in the background.
