Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Bergman-Albright Oil Company field office building in the Playa del Rey oil field on the Venice peninsula, ca.1925. The Bergman-Albright building, a two-story clapboard building constructed in the Monterey style of architecture, sits at center. Seven men stand in front of the building on the left, while another stands alone at the right. A sign above the doorway reads "Office", while a sign painted on to the right of the building reads "Bergman-Albright Oil and Gas Co. Ltd. Field Office. General Office 1008 Sprin[?]. Arcade Bl[?] MU-1493[?]. Chas F. Smi[?] Selling Ag[ent]". Dirt or sand covers the ground in front of the building; an automobile is parked in it at the left edge of the image, while a sign in the lower right reads "No Parking". A paved street runs along the right of the image, lined by residential-type buildings and a few automobiles. The ocean is visible in the left background.
