Description

Photograph of the Sentinel Hotel in Yosemite National Park, ca.1900-1910. A three story white hotel with wood paneling sits to the left of center along a large dirt street. The roadway runs through the center of the image with the front of the hotel facing the thoroughfare. A two story balcony runs along the front of the hotel with criss-cross detail on the second floor railings. Buildings of similar style and color to the hotel line the sides of the street on either side of the image. Large trees that appear to be pines are clearly visible in the background while a mountain sits behind the trees.

Title California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960

Description The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
