Description

Photograph of exterior of an unidentified factory, showing a line of cars near the side of the building, ca. 1925. At center, the rectangular exterior of an unknown factory is seen. Along the left side of the building, a single entrance is seen and several groups of windows are visible. Along the right side of the building, a tall stack of wooden planks lie next to two open windows. Several small planks also lean against the wall of the structure. To the left of the image, four automobiles are seen parked in a line near the side of the factory. To the right in the foreground, two additional automobiles are seen.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
