Description
Photograph of the Hotel Wilmore on opening day in Long Beach, 1887. The two-story hotel (Long Beach's first) stands at center sporting a porch and balcony supported by colonnade as well as a clapboard veneer and other Victorian elements. A few abandoned crates and debris sit in front while guests arrange themselves in a horse-drawn streetcar behind. An American flag waves from the center of the hotel's roof, on which a weathervein is also visible. A man attends a horse-drawn wagon on the ground in the left background.
