Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Juan Bautista, taken by photographer Edward Vischer, before 1875. A man in a long, dark coat and brimmed hat stands with a walking stick in the foreground to the left of center. Behind him, the large, two-story adobe building of the mission stands, the archway of its main entrance surrounded by a wrought-iron fence and topped by both a cross on its roof and a barred window. A portico with terracotta roof tiles extends to the left from the building. A hitching post for horses stands in front of it. Two bells hang outside from a wooden frame in the right background.
