Description
Photograph of the one-cell jail in Hornitos, ca.1930. An equilateral stone building is pictured at center, a man leaning his arm at the edge of the single door, which appears to be open. The roof appears to be made of wood and corrugated tin, and its relation to the main structure is reminscent of a Greek Revival style of architecture. Rolling, shrub-dappled hills are visible in the background.; "History says that a Chinese prisoner was hung inside the jail by lynchers who passed a rope through the window to the crowd outside".
