Description
Photograph of the courtyard at Pío Pico's residence on Whittier Road, Whittier, ca.1900. A brick patio stands at center, with dirt in the foreground. Several potted shrubs stand at its center, with a large plant growing in the background from a hole in the brick. The adobe can be seen wrapping around the courtyard in a crescent, a wall to three out of four sides. To the left, unadorned adobe wall, against which a broom leans. The main building, paneled with planks, is visible in the direct background, while a section covered by wooden latticework stands next to the courtyard well at right. The roofs are missing shingles in spots.
