Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer depicting the abandoned orchard of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, June 1865. Two men are situated--one or horseback, the other seated on a rock--among a few diffuse palm trees in what appears to be a barren pit. Mountains are faintly visible in the background, and more rocks and gnarled plant growth appear to the right. Text written-in below the image identifies the area.
