Description
Photograph of Don Juan Chavez on a horse in front of the hacienda of Juan Francisco Reyes, San Fernando Valley, ca.1932. He is the great grandson of Don Jacinto Reyes and great great grandson of Francisco Reyes. Standing beside him is Luisa Alariz Begue Nicolay, the mother of Ana Begue de Packman, and great great granddaughter of Juan Francisco Reyes. Juan Francisco Reyes was the first grantee of San Fernando Valley, who granted land to San Fernando Mission. Stucco is missing from part of the facade of the old adobe at right. The roof of another building is visible in the background near some trees. A Ford(?) automobile sits beside the Reyes adobe just behind Chavez and Nicolay.
