Description
Photograph of exterior drawing of Axelson Machine company building, ca.1925. At center, the square exterior perimeter of the Axelson Machine company can be seen. At the bottom-center of the image, a small building lined with several windows is seen with the company's name and logo painted on the outer façade of the entryway. Atop the building, an American flag is seen adjacent to several large vents. Behind this building, a line of two long buildings with angled rooftops can be seen. Another building with a similar structure can also be seen at the center of the perimeter. Several windows line the sides of these buildings, and a large entryway is seen in addition to a standard door can be seen on the building on the right. At the center, several small buildings surround a small patch of lawn. A circular mound is visible at the center of the lawn. Behind these buildings, a tall water tower with the name "Axelson" seen on its side is visible. In the extreme foreground to the left, a two trolleys are seen moving along a wide street. In the extreme background, parts of a city are barely visible.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
