Title A mountain campsite, ca.1930

Description Photograph of a mountain campsite, ca.1930. In the center, a large grill made of stone can be seen with kitchen gear sitting on its right, a trash can in front of it, and a wooden box, strapped on the chimney surface of the grill, labeled: "[?]", "Tenderized" and "Fruits". To its left, a picnic area with a table and a kitchen area is visible under a tent, which is sustained by ropes tied to the grill and metal poles. In the right background, an automobile is partially visible behind the grill and another one is observable parked behind a tree. Trees serve as the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
