Description

Photograph of a hiking trail in the mountains, ca.1930. The beginning of a mountain trail is seen on the right. It seems to run through the middle of a steep side of a rocky mountain, surrounded by tall leafless trees. Small bushes are seen in the left background on the higher windward side of the mountain. A small pond (river?) is visible on the left corner in the foreground surrounded by trees and rocks.; Characters are seen in the extreme foreground which read: "It Is The Long Long Trail A Winding" and "No. 11. EB Gray. Photo."

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
