Photograph of women in bathing suits in a small mountain stream with horses nearby, ca.1940. A young woman can be seen wearing a bathing suit while sitting in the middle of the stream, which covers the foreground, on a small dam made of stones. A second woman is sitting by the border of the stream, next to the stoney dam. Behind her, two additional women are standing by three horses while holding their straps; they are standing on a rocky ground with small bushes. A vegetated mountainside fills in the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
