Description

Photograph of two people playing on a miniature golf course, ca.1930. In the center, two men are standing on a narrow putting surface while one of them appears to be preparing to take a swing. An umbrella and a putting hole can be seen in between the men. A second course is visible in the left background showing a small ramp. A third course is visible in the center background, where a man and a young boy are standing on; a small bridge is located next to them. An additional course in view is located in the right background against a brick wall. Houses and trees fill in the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
