Photograph of Walter Hagen playing at Catalina Golf Course on Catalina Island, ca.1930. Hagen can be seen to the right while leaning on a golf club; he is dressed in plus fours and a sweater. To his left, in the center, another player is observable standing in a swing position. A crowd of people in the background is visible, either standing or sitting behind a rope line. A small open-air resting area(?) is sitting behind the crowd and a sign can be seen next to it which says: "NOTICE". A tree and mountains fill in the backdrop.; Originally, the image was labeled as "Walter Hagen at Los Angeles Open golf tournament, ca.1930".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
