Description

Photograph of a hole on a miniature golf course, ca.1930. In the foreground, a hole can be seen in a putting area; it extends into the background while an elevated obstacle is observable in the center. There are small clay pots to the sides of the obstacle and a small wooden fence; light-colored stones are surrounding its sides. In the background, a second course is visible. In the right background, a dirt ground is viewable. Further to the back, garden utensils and a large trash container are visible in front of a brick wall. The wall serves as the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
