Description

Photograph of Turf Club entrance at Hollywood Park Racetrack, 1957. A building can be seen standing in the center while the flag of the United States is flaring from a pole, which is attached on the top; two smaller flags are visible to the left. To the right and left of the building's entrance, palm trees and other vegetation cover the area. A concrete walkway is observable from the foreground that leads to the entrance; a man can be seen walking towards the building. Flowers, possibly lilies, cover most of the foreground. The back of the photograph reads: "Turf Club entrance, Hollywood Park, Inglewood, Calif".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
