Description

Photograph of a woman putting at a miniature golf course, ca.1930. A course trail can be seen in the foreground and, to the right, two signs are visible that say "8 Par 2 Length 33Ft." and "Ball In Water Penalty One Stroke", respectively. Behind the first course, steps made out of cemented stone lead up to a second course; there is a woman taking a swing and a man standing looking down towards a hole. To their right, a small wooden bridge is noticeable above a small stream. Behind the bridge, a large water fountain made of stones is viewable which sits next to a man standing on a third course. The location is surrounded by vegetation and the patio of a house can be seen in the background on a higher elevated ground.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
