Description

Photograph of a view of hillside houses on Odin Avenue in Hollywood, March 11, 1930. A paved road curves from the foreground to the background at center and is lined with concrete sidewalks and palm trees. Man two-story Spanish-style houses can be seen on the side of a hill in the background. Large trees can be seen among the houses. An early-model automobile can be seen near the side of the road in the foreground at right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
