Description

Photograph of a close-up view of a miniature golf hole numbered "13", ca.1930. A narrow trail that leads up to a hole that goes through a small piece of wood is surrounded by a cactus, rocks, and a sign with the number "13" on it. It is positioned in between two course trails and a brick floor is visible in the right foreground and left background. The back of the photograph reads: "Approach to the 13th tee on a miniature golf course in Los Angeles".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
