Description

Photograph of a man putting on a miniature golf course, ca.1930. In the right, a man is standing on a mini course, showing an elevated obstacle, who appears to be preparing to swing on a golfball. The mini course is framed by a brick floor and the obstacle has a small wooden fence on each side. A second man is standing to the left, next to the obstacle, while holding a piece of paper and a pencil in one hand. A wooden fence is observable to the right which extends into the background. Houses and trees fill in the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
