Description
Photograph of a view looking southeast at Whitley Heights across the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard shortly after the construction of the new underpass to Highland Avenue, ca.1940. Three streets meet in a Y shape at center, and a tunnel goes under one of the streets at center. Two sets of railroad tracks can be seen running down the middle of the road in the foreground at left. Many early-model automobiles are traveling on the roads. In the distance at center the Whitley Heights can be seen. Many buildings are visible above the tops of the trees. At the base of the hill at center is the Hollywood Roosevelt Plaza Hotels, identified by a large sign.
