Description
Photograph of a view of Western Avenue looking north from Seventh Street, ca.1924. Automobiles and a horse-drawn carriages make their way towards the viewer at left, while other traffic, a small bus admidst it, moves down the paved road to the right. Farther left, a two-story home in the style of a french cottage can be seen back off the sidewalk behind the foliage in its yard and the utility poles that line the street. To the right, most of the buildings that appear are commercial, filling the city. In the deep distance, the spire of a church can be seen against the backdrop of the mountains. No dividing lines are painted on the road.; Legible signs from left to right read: "Bank of America", "636 So. Western Ave. Real Estate", "Keep an 'extra' bedroom in your closet. Holmes Disappearing Bed Co.", "A beautiful roof forever. Granada Tile. Investigate the Cost", "Be Safe!", "Plessier Square Offices" and "James J. Donahue".
