Photograph of men in a campsite at Lily Spring Camp on the north side of Mount Hawkins, ca.1930. In the center, two men wearing rugged clothes are sitting around a wooden table. In the foreground, a second table sits behind a long wooden tree trunk; small cloth bags are sitting on it and the ground surrounding it is filled with lumber. Pieces of wood residues fill the foreground. The men sit among big white firs which also cover the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
