In the left foreground, two young girls are leaning against a long horizontal piece of wood while a rope extends from it and up to another standing tree on the right. Clothes are hanging from this rope and partially covering a tent seen behind them.; In the left corner of the foreground, an automobile is partially visible parked in front of a cabin which is seen in the left background. Another automobile is seen behind the tent parked in front of what appears to be an elevated patio with tables; cabins are seen along the patio. A hillside is visible in the far background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
