Photograph of California Botanic Gardens, showing cluster of trees over a river, [s.d.]. In the extreme foreground at center, small plants grow along a muddy bank. At center, a wide, calm river can be seen extending from left to right. On the opposite shore, thick clusters of plants and trees, including palm and yucca trees, are visible. In the extreme background at center, the top of a mountain range is visible.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
