Description
Photograph of a line drawing depicting the Commercial Bank building on the east side of Main Street north of First Street, ca.1880. A horse-drawn streetcar makes its way across the frame from the right while pedestrians attend to a horse-drawn carriage and make their way into the entrance of the Romanesque two-story Commercial Bank building. A secondary entrance in the same building, to the left of the bank entrance, is flanked by plaques and appears to be possibly a barber shop, as a barber pole is partially visible. Legible signs in the scene include: "El Dorado [...]" on the building to the right of the bank, "Commercial Bank" and "Perry Villa Track", "Brooklyn & Boyle Heights" and "Los Angeles & Ali[...] 7 Avenues" all on the sides of the streetcar.
