Photograph of people in an automobile camp in Elysian Park, ca.1930. Below the center, a woman and a man, that seem to be conversing, are viewable to the left of a row of parked automobiles and tents which extend towards the far background. Another row is partially visible on the left, on a less elevated area. In the far right, a cabin is observable and a few more are seen towards the background. The people and objects are all visible under trees.; A sign on a tree can be seen on the right which reads: "DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH". A hillside is visible in the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
