Description

Photograph of an automobile park under eucalyptus trees, ca.1930. In the far right foreground a lone automobile is covered in a cloth, situated next to a pup tent at the end of a line of trees which delineate individual campers' spots. In the background, several other automobiles can be seen parked outside two cabins. To the far right, several signs can be seen attached to a wooden stand. Signs read: "[?]ers [?]e [?]ant [?]ace", and "No cars allowed [?] after [?]".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
