Photograph of people on pack horses near a pond in snow-capped mountains, ca.1930. Below the center, a man is sitting on a horse, leading what seem to be two donkeys behind him. Behind him, in the background and next to the pond, five more riders are seen in a less elevated plateau, one behind of the other. The site is surrounded by rocks, small bushes and trees. Mountains fill in the backdrop.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
