Description

Photograph of a back view of a man fishing with a kite on a boat, ca.1930. The back of a man, who is sitting on a chair by the edge of a boat, can be seen while he is facing towards the direction of a kite. The kite is in the air and located on the right; a fish seems to be attached on the bottom of the kite's string. The man's feet are positioned against the inner side of the boat, apparently for support while handling the kite. On the bottom of the man's feet, pipes can be seen horizontally extended. The ocean is visible in the horizon.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
