In the foreground at right, a decorative piece of a canoe can be seen floating on the lake. Growing along the lake, large clusters of lotus plants and lotus blossoms can be seen extending into the background. In the background at center, a person walks along a grassy field near two wooden benches. A man sits on the edge of one of the benches, while a group of four people sit on another bench to the far right. Large homes can be seen further in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
